Bad news on the back front

So I've been coping with some stronger than comfortable back pain the last couple of weeks and went in for an MRI on Tuesday. It turns out that the results are worse than they were 2 years ago. The doctor is recommending more cortisone shots and the same routine from my first go-round.

While I am more than disappointed in the news, at least there is a plan of action that I know works to get going on. While this is a set back, I am looking forward to being pain free, starting to exercise and getting back into shape. I also need to drop the last of the pregnancy pounds which will be good for both my back and my confidence!

I still need to do a nerve test to look for additional damage before I schedule my shots, but at least I am on the right path...

....and back to being interested

At about 19 months old, Miles showed an interest in the potty. Since then, any time we ask him if he wants to sit on the potty, we get a very firm "NO", so we just roll with it.

Last night when dinner was wrapping up, Tim had to go "rest". And when Miles asked where Daddy went, I told him the potty. Miles then announced that he had to go potty. So Tim got him out of the high chair, undressed him, and sat him on the potty with the newest Fisher Price catalog. Miles was perfectly content for a bit and Tim thought he was just "practicing" as he is known to do. But apparently not - Miles pooped!! He was really quite pleased with himself until he stood up and looked in the toilet, at which point he was startled. "Uh oh! UH OH!!!" Tim had to assure him that what he saw was to be expected and that he did a very good job. He then ran around the house wearing a shirt, socks, and a little red bottom telling me and Tim that he went poop.

Though we still aren't really training him yet, we do encourage his interest in it and are thrilled any time he uses the potty. Big Boy!!! (Only 2+ more years of diapers for the Reeths!!)

BIG Milestone!!!

Amelia figured out how to roll over last night!!! She has been rolling on to her side for the last couple of weeks, but I really thought we were still a couple more weeks away from her figuring it out. Miles first rolled over at 4 1/2 months and I am floored that our darling little one has figured it out at 3 1/2 months. Like any new skill that babies learn, she can't stop practicing and is now constantly rolling over. So proud of you miss Amelia!!!

Old McDonald

Miles has found his musical voice. We don't play a lot of toddler music for him, but we really should - he loves to sing and dance!

Razz to the hands

Amelia is hitting milestones out of the park these days. This was a cute video I got on Daddy's cell phone that shows both how enthralled she is with her hands, and how she is starting to razz and talk more and more. It amazes me how quickly she is growing up.

Grinning and Squeaking!

Our little girl is growing up so fast. She is now in the Bumbo and looking at the world in a whole new way. She loves being upright, and will stay so until she is just plain worn out. It's wonderful to hear her squeak and know how pleased she is with herself.

Nap in Mommy and Daddy's Bed

Miles came down with a cold and mild case of pink eye over the weekend. Needless to say, he wasn't feeling all that well. As a treat, we offered to let him nap with Daddy in our bed instead of alone in his "big boy bed". Miles was all over the invitation. Mom snuck in at some point and snapped a pic.

I woke up approx. 30mins before Miles and had thought how great of a photo it would have been had we captured it. Was happy to find out when I went downstairs that Lina had. :)

Butt F_ck

Ok - so this is no reflection of the type of language we use in front of Miles.

On our way to day care, Miles kept repeating "Dump Truck". I guess I had two options. 1.) rinse his mouth out with Palmolive or 2.) capture it on video. Well it really was a no brainer.

Family Resemblance ?

We are really starting to see a resemblance between the kids. When Amelia was born, we thought she looked like Miles, and we continue to see it as Amelia is getting bigger and her face is filling out. While everyone thinks that their kids are the cutest, we are thrilled to know that ours really are. (grin)

Big Girl!!

With Amelia's growth into the forward facing Bjorn, we decided to dust off the exersaucer. She really seemed to be enjoying herself, but also concentrating really hard. Apparently, focus causes drool...

It really is amazing to see her grow up. She is 3 months already and is getting more stable every day. She is an easy little girl and we know that the incredibly hard days of infancy are behind us.

Could Have Been Worse...

We were out at our favorite restaurant on Sunday night for Mother's Day when Miles just started saying "Baby coming" "Baby coming right there". What it took us a moment to realize was that he was pointing to the heavy (but not pregnant) woman sitting a table down from us. He went on to "talk" about how the baby was in her belly and even went so far as to lift up his shirt to demonstrate where the baby was. While he pointed at her and emphatically declared that the baby was coming, at least she didn't know what was happening...

Another day at Happy Hollow

Mama and Pop-pop Reeth were down for Mother's Day to see us and we just couldn't resist taking Miles back to Happy Hollow on Monday. Miles was a bit tired from the weekend, but we managed to get several rides in along with hours on the jungle gyms and at the petting zoo. Amelia also made an appearance in the Baby Bjorn. She is getting to the stage where she wants out of the car seat to explore and learn about the world around her. As soon as she was got tired, we put her back in the car seat and she immediately went to sleep.

Miles is also growing super fast and is getting more coordinated, both physically and linguistically every day. At Happy Hollow, he mastered a rope bridge for the first time - much to everyone's delight - but no one was happier than he was.

Daddy's Baby

After the bath the other night, my 2 night owls posed for a shot. We still haven't gotten Amelia on an early bedtime yet, but last night she slept from 9:30 - 6 am so not much to complain about there!

CT Visitors

This past weekend, Daddo and Beebles came out to play. While Daddo "played with pigs" on the HP Ranch, Beebles rolled up her sleeves and dove into our hectic life. We had lots of adventures that included another trip (and gift membership) to Happy Hollow, a couple of dinners out, and a windy afternoon at the beach. Miles also got a new pair of shoes. It's amazing to think that this time last year he was wearing a 4.5 and now he is in an 8.5 - he's growing up so fast!!

It was wonderful to have my mom around and just live life next to us for a while - our lives are crazy and we don't always have time to visit over the phone so it was nice to be able to catch up in person.

Piggy Back Ride

Miles gave Amelia the first of a lifetime of piggy back rides... and Daddo was there to capture it on film. Miles still loves his little sister. Lots of playing peekaboo, kisses, and "I wanna see Mia"s. It's wonderful he is just so sweet with her!
