Updates Updates Updates!!!

Ok, so it has been a very long time.

2 weeks ago, the Reeths came down for MLK weekend. On Saturday, we did our Half Moon Bay -> Santa Cruz trip again where we met Kevin, Jeannie, Cody & Kylie. It was another beautiful California day. Miles spent the better part of the afternoon without pants on (though loads of sunscreen) and his hat. He loved hanging out with his cousins, and ADORED the attention of his grandparents. The first day back to his nanny was a bit of a shock to him as he didn't have all of Karen's complete attention and he needed to share her with Augie.

Some photos...

Last weekend was a bit more mellow - but still lots to do!! On Saturday, I hung out with my Burligname Mother's group. It's amazing that we have known each other for more than a year. The next time we see each other will be at Maddie's 1st birthday party!!! The kids that used to be lumps and sleep through lunch are now standing! In fact, we brought over Miles' Radio Flyer walker so Tina could check it out. At one point, Miles drove Eliana and Malia around. Tina got video of the event and she is going to burn it to a CD for me - so stay tuned!

Some photos of all of our big kids!!!

And then our lives -- we are doing really well, but super busy!!! My days are crazy, I am running from one meeting to the next. Evenings are a bit hectic as we're doing the bedtime routine, then cooking dinner (including for Bill who is doing most of the engineering for Tim's company), trying to keep the house in a modicum of order, and then trying to get some rest myself. Tim often doesn't come to bed until the wee hours of the night, I am up with Miles for his early morning feed, and then it all repeats. Though never busier - I have also never been happier. Life is wonderful.

My little love!

So much to update on... so little time! We are all doing super - Miles is more and more engaging and endearing every day. He is starting to really pick up on the world around him. His "O" face has turned into a "hooting face with sound effect". He is starting to do a funky laugh thing that he gets from me - the weird grunty inhale thing I do at the end of a laugh - think trying to make a donkey sound while breathing in.... Nice, he gets all his good looks and his charm from his father, but his donkey laugh from me.... glad I could make an impression on the little guy!

Off to another (!) meeting, I promise to do my best to post more soon!

~~Miles Meets the Ocean~~

Last Sunday, we took a family roadtrip to Half Moon Bay and then down highway 1. Miles napped along the route and we spent his time between naps in Santa Cruz where Miles met the Pacific Ocean! Tough he didn't much appreciate the cold water, he loved looking at the waves and walking in the sand. We spend time on the beach, then had a great lunch on the wharf. Miles was a champ hanging out in the highchair eating his lunch while Tim and I enjoyed ours. It was a wonderful day enjoying all that California has to offer, and we made a pact with ourselves to do day trips like this more often. More pictures below, as well as up on Flickr.

New Tones!

I may be biased, but I just think Miles is the best kid ever!!! He continues to develop and be such a little love bug. Here are some of his newest:
  1. Yes, the O Face is still around - not the most handsome look - but he does it to make people laugh.
  2. Despite being pretty close to walking, Miles is up on all fours crawling - no more army crawling for him!!!
  3. He kisses back. Ok, not really, but you can ask him for a kiss and make kissing noises, and he will lean in with his mouth and touch your mouth. It's wonderful to know that he is engaging with us - and giving back a little love.
  4. He is starting to recognize words. Over Christmas, Miles loved watching the fan at Grandma and Grandpa's house - now when you ask him where the fan is, he'll look up at the ceiling.
  5. He waves goodbye - which basically means I can't go anywhere! It's just too dang cute and I need to go back and kiss him again!
  6. You can literally watch him learning - he'll be all sorts of active and moving around, but when it's clear you are teaching him something, he quiets right down and tries to take it all in.
I just can't wait to get home every day and spend time with him. Weekends are all the more special now that I get to watch him grow up.

10 months old!!!!!

So yes, we are WAY late on updating the blog. Life has never been so busy and are running a million miles an hour.

We've been up to loads of fun - updates coming soon. We took Miles to the Dr today for his flu shot, and while we were there, we put him on the scale and measured him. He seems to be in a total growth spurt! In a month, he has gained close to 1.5 pounds and grown an inch! (29.5 inches long, 20 lbs, 12 oz) As you can imagine, he is quickly moving out of his 9 month clothes and into his 12 - 18.... When I came home today, Miles was in Tim's arms in the kitchen, and Miles looked like a little boy - no longer a baby. Where has the time gone?!?!?!

More photos of Miles in tha backyard can be found on Flickr.

Into EVERYTHING

Miles has reached a whole new level of activity and it is making him into everything. As soon as we get home, it's pretty clear that we have to immediately baby proof. Miles can pull himself up on anything, including totally flat surfaces. He even gets his feet underneath him on toys that are all of inches high. It's wonderful to witness his development, but I believe we're in for a couple of years operating at a full sprint to keep up with him!!!

Another Christmas Photo...

I just love this one...
