Lina and I were sitting in our sun room on Sunday playing with Miles. He was being his usual happy self; walking, talking-ish, climbing all over the place...when out of nowhere - POKE! Miles jabbed Daddy straight in the eye. My eye was wide open. Boy did it HURT. Much to my surprise, Miles was able to hit my eyeball before I could flinch or blink...I never saw it coming. To think, I've caught in my eye lashes pieces of flying wood chips propelled from chain-saws, nats in mid flight, screaming dust particles from any number of gusty days, but I was unable to defend against his one inch finger.
My eye turned bloodshot, teared like I lost my dog (had I had one I cared about), my head pounded (requiring two Maximum Strength Excedrin), I had to go to the pharmacy to pick up eye drops with itch relief and even had to wear a patch thru the night. Man Miles what a shot.
He was great, however. He must have sensed something because he came to me three separate times to give me a hug. Makes it worth the pain actually. Though I might just pretend he gets me next time just for the hugs.

A "Loose Rabbit"

This is a tale of why I love Burlingame....
This past Saturday morning started as any other. We got Miles up, fed him, took him to Starbucks with us, and then off to the park. As we got closer to the park, we started noticing far more families than usual were down there - and they all were bringing Easter Baskets.
It turns out that the Burlingame Lions club hosted a pancake breakfast and egg hunt for the community. Aside from the obvious (pancakes and Easter Eggs) they had the Lions' Club Band for which you had to be over 73 to play, a face painter, and a HUGE crowd of people. Miles didn't seem to get the whole egg hunt thing, and stood in the middle of the field gawking at the on-lookers of his under-2 group, and mesmerized at all the other little kids who either understood and were picking up eggs, or didn't and were more comatose like him.
Miles however LOVED the band. It makes us think about how we can expose him to live music over the course of the 7 hours a day he is not napping!
The clown thought we were kidding when we asked her to paint our 13 month old's face - so I asked for a "Loose Rabbit" and this is what we got...

While not really a rabbit, I still think he looks darling!
My Little Easter Prince
We spent our Easter Lunch with Aunt Patsy and her children. I put Miles in an "outfit" that Tim thought was not entirely masculine enough, but he was so cute, I just couldn't help it. I think Miles was technically a little big for it (every time he bent over, all the buttons at the crotch popped open), so I was glad he got to wear it once.Miles was an absolute charmer on Sunday. He was a perfect gentle-little-man, ate well (he loves deviled eggs) and watched all the older kids hunt for Easter Eggs and just generally cavort. Miles did find one egg, it was at his eye height in a planter. He picked it up and there was a dime in it! He spent the next 20 minutes shaking it - like any little boy, if it makes noise, he's interested!!! He, however, did not "find" the other little blue egg right next to it....

Mornings in the park
These are from 2 weeks ago - from Miles' long ago pre-walking days, but I love the photos and the time it represents.
On Saturday and Sunday morning, we have a nice family routine of getting up, going to Starbucks, grabbing coffee and food. We sit as a family, eat our breakfast, and Miles flirts with all the ladies coming in for their morning cuppa Joe.
After that, we head to the park. At 8:30, amazingly it is empty! Miles isn't intimidated by any older kids and there is little to distract him. It really is my favorite part of the weekend.

First Haircut
Needless to say, we are WAY behind and out of order in our blog updates. As evident from all our recent photos and video of Mr.Mr. it was time for him to get his first haircut. He got a little off the top, a trim around the ears and cleaned up the rug we called his mullet in the back. He was great; no fussing or winging.
The trim made him look a bit older. Still, it was a little sad to see the tips of some of his first hairs fall to the floor.

Happy Easter - Happy Toddler
Lina, Miles and Tim wishing everyone a Happy Easter. Today we are heading down to Aunt Patsy's house for an Easter lunch. Miles couldn't be more excited to show off his new Miles(tone). I guess its official, Miles is now a "Toddler". Two days ago Miles crossed his mental barrier to walking. He finally decided to just do it. In a blink of the eye, and with his "magic walking phone", he went from only taking a few steps before going to his knees, to walking back and fourth across the length of the house 3 times (uninterupted, except to cheer and clap).
So happy and proud of our man!
