Who's there?
It's me, Mom.
TWOSDAY!!!!
I started feeling Twosday kicking on my belly a couple of weeks ago - but didn't really take notice. But last week, I had to go down to LA for work and had a night by myself. In the hotel room with no distractions, I felt Twosday, spent some quality time with him/her and had the full realization that there was another little person inside of me. Now that I am home (and starting to sport a bitty-bump), Tim can now feel Twosday, too.
It's amazing - I feel like now that I can start feeling the little one, pregnancy has gone from all about feeling lousy, to understanding that there really was a person growing inside of me. Needless to say, I love those moments in meetings or when I lay down for bed and Twosday reminds me that there is someone there...

SOO Big - 18 Months!

Yesterday, Miles turned 18 months old. I can't believe my little boy is already a year and a half old. Time has just flown and he seems to be growing like a weed. He is turning into such a delightful little man who is quick to laugh and loves to make us laugh.
Talking: He is talking up a blue streak and is getting more and more words. His newest is "out" when he wants to get out of his crib in the morning. He also seems obsessed with shoes. If you are barefoot, he will point at your feet, say "shoes", go find yours, bring them back to you, and wait for you to put them on.
Movement: He is still trying his darndest to jump. Though he can get himself off the ground now, he usually ends up on his back in peals of laughter. He is also climbing on everything. Yesterday when my Dad & Tom Cox were visiting en route to the airport, we turned our backs for a minute, the the little scootch what on top of the backrest on the purple couch in the playroom.
Personality: this has really been his biggest change of late. He is a funny little guy who is really starting to enjoy himself and us. He will sit across from us at dinner and just start to make faces. I think he is trying to imitate Dad, but once he starts, I can't stop laughing. We've been trying to get this on video and when we do, we will be sure to post it.
Growth: We had his 18 month visit today, and he seems to have had a growth spurt and has finally caught up to his head. Here are his stats:
Height: 34 inches. 90th percentile
Weight: 28 lbs 4 oz. 75th percentile
Head: 49.5 cm. 90th percentile
And I spent a lot of the last 3 months worried he wasn't eating enough -- guess I don't really need to worry!! The pediatrician said he is looking really good and that we're doing all the right things, which is what you want to hear.
All grown up: Miles never really looked like an infant with that strong Reeth chin, but he is looking more and more like a little boy to us. He entertains himself more and more these days, but still loves his moments when we read to him. It's amazing how much he has changed. We took this photo about a month ago, but are still amazed at how grown up he is looking!!

Jump Jive An' Wail
While not the rule, Miles has been known to turn bed time up a notch. Its amazing to think he can go from this level of energy to out cold in under ten minutes. Ten minutes includes, reading three books and having some milk.
Here's Miles practicing jumping and the "jump-pump with role back". While difficult in nature, these moves are made infinitely more difficult while holding plastic forks in each hand. DO NOT try this at home (without footed pajamas).

Bear at Soda Springs
Just dug through some older videos and came across this one from our two week vacation in Soda Springs. Lina and I picked up this hat for Miles while shopping in Truckee one afternoon. While we think its fantastic and a must wear ALL THE TIME, Miles feels differently. Perhaps its all the compliments on his stark white hair that keeps him from wanting to cover it up...no matter how cool of a hat he has.
Country Is
Mom and Miles taking a few minutes to dance to some Tom T. Hall. We start'em young on old country otherwise there's the chance it won't stick. This song has followed me my whole life - and its the memories and connections to it that I hope Miles and Twosday will have someday. Its also a smashing video of Mom and Miles at play - mom's away for two days and we hope this brings her a smile.
Country is sittin' on the back porch
listen to the whippoorwills late in the day
Country is mindin' your business
helpin' a stranger if he comes your way
Country is livin' in the city
knowin' your people, knowin' your kind
Country is what you make it
country is all in your mind
Country is workin' for a living
thinkin' your own thoughts lovin' your town
Country is teachin' your children
find out what's right and stand your ground
Country is a havin' the good times
listen to the music singing your part
Country is walkin' in the moonlight
country is all in your heart

Wow
So much has been going on lately. Not to mention the big news, but life as well. I am working my butt off, when I am not besotted with pregnancy brain or morning sickness. I have a new manager and am likely to get a bunch of more projects before I head out on maternity leave. We've gotten some great press coverage, and my little photo up on QuickenHealth.com even made it onto CNN (want my autograph?).
Miles is growing like a weed and thriving. He seems to be doing great in daycare and gets super excited to go in the mornings - but he still runs to me when I pick him up in the evenings. It is actually fun to watch him before he knows I am there as he is playing with (or around) other kids and with new toys. His world is opening up right in front of him.
Miles has also physically taken off and lives life on the run. A couple of night ago as I put him to bed, he seemed a little amped up, so I let him bounce a little of it off before I read him his stories. He is trying to learn how to jump and get both feet off the ground - but it looks more like a little spazzy dance full of small leaps and then collapses in giggles into the ground. I watched him for about 5 minutes (and got some video) before I called it a night. He quietly melted into my arms and went to bed without fuss - and was asleep before we knew it. He really is either running or sleeping.
What's been most fun, and Tim mentioned it, is that he is really trying to talk. He talks a blue streak, but more and more words are coming out weekly. On Tuesday, he came into our room in the morning, picked up my watch off my bedside table and said "watch" - crystal clear. It's amazing the words that he does have, like that and "three", but he hasn't named his lovey.
On the Twosday front, we are 16 weeks and it's amazing how differnt the pregnancies are. With Miles, I felt fine mostly (except for 2 migraines) and couldn't stand the site of a vegetable. With this Little One, I have felt hung over for more than 2 months and all I want to eat is fruits and salad - God help you if you are between me and my Caprese Salad!
I started telling the office last week, but have been slowly rolling it out. It's always such a weird thing to say "I'm pregnant" out of the blue (still not used to it). It's actually nice for the office to know what is going on as I am in the throws of monthly visits, blood work, and ultra sounds.
Being pregnant with number 2 is totally different than the first. I've been spending a little time reading the oldest posts on the blog all about Miles' pregnancy. I spent a lot of time worrying that everything was ok as we moved from 1 test to the next. I am far more relaxed this go-round - and I have exponentially less time. I liked the blog post when I figured out that the secret to surviving the first trimester was more than 10 hours of sleep, going to be at 9 and waking up after 8... yeah, right.
My body is starting to change. As babycenter has said, get ready for a growth spurt. I am actually pretty well slimmed for child #2, but things are definitely expanding more rapidly. I haven't yet pulled on my high waisted maternity pants, but they are sure to come over the next couple of weeks. My clothing choices have drastically narrowed, but I am not quite willing to put belts away for the next 8 months.
More to come later - we have tons of photos and videos of our little man that I want to post - I just need to get to it!

Miles and His Peeps
This is an older photo - sorry for the resolution, it was taken with my Blackberry.
Miles and I went out for a mid-week lunch with the "boyz" several weeks back. It was a great time - watching Miles "hang" with the guys. Miles had a great time walking across the laps of the guys making a point of putting his hands into everything on the table. Once lunch was over, Miles proceeded to walk the isle of the Cheescake Factory, waving at all the diners.
