It's been forever since we last posted. I am on maternity leave and frantically nesting. I already spent hours in the kid's closet organizing, folding, sorting, laundering, etc. Their room is totally done and we are actually fully prepared for our little girl to come along - which is nice!
In order to recap what's been going on, I am hoping to get out a bunch of posts over the next couple of days. I am trying to finally start to rest before the middle of the night onslaught, but I am still compelled to clean!!!

Big Boy Bike
Miles got his "Big Boy Bike" Christmas present from Beebles and Daddo. He loves it and its now the preferred method of cruising down town. The bike comes with an imaginary horn and enough torque to pull wheelies from a roll.
We've put a few block on the odometer and have been very happy with the performance; though Miles' performance (talking to himself) the other day was something to see. Luckily we caught some on video.
Miles gets a lot of looks from people as he passes by, but perhaps none more than from the 19-24mo. old crowd of girls at the playground. Its true what they say...girls go 'goo goo' for a boy with wheels of his own.
Miles couldn't make it all the way home from downtown the other morning. At first we thought he was just looking down at the ground as we pushed him home. Realizing after a few minutes of him not moving that he might be asleep. He was.

Ring Tone Dancing
Up in Reno, Miles fell in love with Mama's cell phone ring tone. It became a fun game for us as we called him over and over again - and every time he literally would stop what he was doing, get up and dance. You can actually here him say "Dance" when he recognized the music.

The Cousin's Wii
Tim's brother's family got a Wii for Christmas and brought it down to the Reno house. Needless to say, the day after Christmas was mostly spent in front of the games. While Miles didn't actually get a chance to play, he did love the drum set.

Beep
Miles loves dip, or "beep". If you actually show him this video (and we did a couple of times) he will disengage with you and walk to the fridge asking for it.
Empathy
Miles has always been a very sweet boy, but he is starting to show some empathy towards me that has surprised me.
1. Before we went up to Reno, I had a standard doctor's appointment and Miles had the second installment of his H1N1 vaccination. Tim took Miles up to get his shot while I got settled at the OB. By the time that Miles and Tim were through, I was already in the exam room. When the doctor showed up, Miles got very uncomfortable, but when the doctor started her exam, he freaked out. Miles was up in Daddy's arm just repeating "Mommy, no. Mommy, no!" I am sure he thought I was going to get a shot and he wanted to protect me.
2. While we were up in Reno, I stubbed my toe to much anguish in front of Miles. Instead of swearing and screaming in front of him, I hopped around and out of the room. Miles followed me, in tears, calling to me to make sure I was ok.
I am not sure if it is normal or not for him to be so concerned, but it is remarkably endearing and just shows me how his world is expanding beyond what immediately impacts him. What a lovey!

Christmas Morning
Like everything these days, we seem to be a little behind the boat on posting to the blog. This was a little taste of our Christmas morning before the cousins came down the mountain and all chaos broke out! We gave Miles a present every so often. I think he enjoyed opening things up, but needless to say was overwhelmed. I don't think he opened his final present until the evening of the 26th - but with a less than 2 year old, we weren't in any rush.
Children truly make the holidays more special. It is fun to just see him light up with the magic of the holidays.
