She sits, she scores!!!!

I've noticed that Amelia flexes her little abs all the time - so I put her to the test and learned she can sit!!! Albeit for only about 10 seconds if that, but it is amazing how quickly she is banging off some of these milestones...

(Anyone else watching the world cup??)

Model Girl

We spent a little time this afternoon in back yard in the shade of the persimmon tree. Amelia was so cute and engaging, I had to go and get the camera. I couldn't decide which of these expressions were more beautiful: the serious expression, the happy face, or the bubbles. I just can't believe how cute she is!!!

Napping Professional!!!

Amelia has been doing sooo well with sleep training. Her naps today were great and she was in a wonderful mood all day. Getting down for a nap has been easy. Her last nap of the day I had to put her pacifier in for about 5 minutes, but she dozed off easily after that. She even took a 2 hour nap this morning which means she is learning to string her sleep cycles together. No doubt, she was exhausted from yesterday, but she is getting to be super comfortable in the pack 'n play and being by herself. You go Girl!!!

Santa Cruz With the Cousins

On Sunday, we departed for a FULL day in Santa Cruz with Uncle Yoyo, Aunt Neenie, Tylie and Tody. Amelia got up early, so we decided that to meet the cousins down at the beach at 10, we would leave early, head to Half Moon Bay for breakfast and then off down the coast. It was a lovely morning and by the time the other Reeths arrived, we were all in high spirits.

Miles had a blast playing on the beach with the everyone. Amelia, on the other hand, had a really hard time trying to nap - not that I can blame her, people were everywhere and time was accented by the screams on the roller coaster. Poor Amelia - she was doing such a GREAT job sleep training, and then we just threw a major monkey wrench into the mix. She finally fell asleep in my arms - which also promptly fell asleep. When she woke up, Tim held her just long enough for my blood to come back into my arms before I held her again to feed her.

After lunch, Miles took a nap in a little tent we had brought with us. I had to negotiate with him for a while before her slept, but he was tired so he eventually went down. After his nap, we took advantage of the boardwalk rides. Miles followed Kylie all over the park and had a wonderful time.

We extended the day into dinner to let the traffic over the hill before we hit the road. Dinner was great, but we found ourselves right in the thick of it. It actually took us about 75 minutes to go 20 miles so we got Miles home for bed super late.

The day was super wonderful, and we will definitely do it again soon - but maybe on a Saturday so Miles has a little time to recover before going off to daycare super exhausted.

Oakland Zoo.... Again!!!!

On Saturday morning, we went back to the Oakland Zoo. It was a HOT day, but we spent the morning riding rides, seeing animals, and generally playing. Miles had a great time, and Amelia did a pretty good job hanging out and sleeping in the stroller.

4 Months Old!!

Amelia turned 4 months old last week. She still proves to be a pretty easy little girl, for which I am very grateful!! Her personality is emerging and she is quite delightful and happy - unless she is hungry, but the patience may still come. She loves to grin and squeak and delights us with all sorts of silly sounds. She is totally tracking the sounds of our voices and turns to look at us when we are around.

We recently have put her in the bouncy chair - though she hasn't quite figured out the purpose yet, she does love to hang around in the kitchen and walk back and forth. Reminds me of another 4 month old I once knew...

I already reported that she found her hands, but she is way into using those hands these days. She loves to be on the activity mat and play with the toys above her head. She is reaching and grabbing for everything these days, and mostly tries to put it all in her mouth. She also has discovered her feet. It really is funny to watch her sit there and try to grab them as they go floating by.

In terms of her stats, she is healthy and on track for growth - always a concern when you are nursing!
  • Height: 24.25 inches - about 50th percentile
  • Weight: 12 lbs 2 oz - about 35th percentile
  • Head: 40.2 cm - about40th percentile
Keep growing little love!!!!

To my wonderful husband:

Happy anniversary! These last years together have been wonderful. I am completely fulfilled by your love and our life together. It's amazing to think that 4 years have gone by - it seems so fast, and yet we have 2 more people in our lives. I thank you every day for the love and the children that you have given me.
