Days gone by....
So, March has basically come and gone - and we haven't posted anything! Tim is working his butt off on his company, and I am preparing for a product launch 3 years in the making. meanwhile, we have a perfect little 1 year old running around keeping us busy in any "spare" time that we have. What is true, however frantic, is that we are unbelievably happy and feeling wonderfully blessed. So, to make a long story short, here is a series of postings on our happenings!

First Ouchy

Miles had an unexpected date with gravel and gravity. Miles was playing in the train facade at the neighborhood playground. He was doing great transitioning from one bench to the other, when Lina and I took our eyes off him for a second to point out a passing doggy. When we looked back Miles as was on his belly. We picked him up to find him with a mouth full of sand (we are still unsure where it ALL came from) and an "ouchy" on his head. As tough as Reeth and Chickerings are, Miles was unable to hold back his tears. Though he did fight through the pain and shock to settle down a few moments after we scooped him up. I think he was more upset at the sand and missing the doggy than bumping his head.
As a family friend, Dick Livermore, says "Dirt hurt." Of all the kinds of hurts a child can experience, this is the best kind, because it the kind that goes away.
Miles is all healed up and ready for his BIG BOY birthday this Friday and the Saturday celebration to follow.

Argh Matey
This morning Karen, our nanny, busted out her face painting kit. We had talked the previous day about doing some face painting for the kids at Miles' birthday party; so she showed up today with her stuff.
In no time Karen had applied paint (almost) all over Miles. He had a star on his cheek, a clover on the back of his hand, a fish on his forearm and then came the pirate face application. Miles was whooting in the mirror, getting a real kick out of his face details.

Prince Charming
This is something I definitely want to remember.
Miles invented his own game. He figured this out with Tim early one morning in the playroom when Tim closed his eyes as Miles played - it wasn't good enough for Miles who woke him up with kisses. The game has continued and extends to me, grandma, and grandpa once, though not for lack of trying. Miles has always been friendly and affectionate, and it is wonderful that he so freely shows it.

Eyelashes
Miles has discovered eyelashes. Not his own, ours.
Yesterday I was lying on the couch while he was cruising around the couch and coffee table. He came over to me for kisses, but stopped and started reaching for my eye. It looked like he wanted to poke it out, but he stopped and pinched and pulled my lashes. He then did it again, again, again....
It's amazing what is entertaining for a 11.5 month old.

R.I.P. 6 ozs of Blackberries
It's the Mexican berry season and they are super yummy. We went to the store yesterday and picked up his weekly fruit. At dinner, I gave him a couple of blackberries and he went crazy. Literally. Apey. As fast as I could get them on his tray, they were smeared all over his face and in his mouth. He went though the ENTIRE 6 ounce container in under 10 minutes. As much as he loves blueberries, blackberries are the one top.
