As I haven't been picking Miles up - Tim has not only compensated, but is playing with him 3 fold. Miles defined a game in early December looking at Tim and just saying "slide". We had no idea what he meant, so Tim got on the floor with him, and the following ensued.
Since then, Miles has discovered lots more ways to "slide" on Daddy. Some are less safe than others, but he loves crawling all over his dad.

Where ya been?
Hiding? A little...
Recovering? Certainly...
Overwhelmed? Totally...
The last month has been a tricky one. I have had some serious back issues (which are getting better), but I have been in a batten-down-the-hatches frame of mind. Tim has been charged with mostly taking care of Miles and I have stopped picking him up. Miles doesn't seem too worse for the wear, but I miss holding him terribly.
The good news is that my back isn't as bad as it was 2 weeks ago, and my doctors are all in communication. It looks like an early c-section is on the table right now, but my OB is being really good about letting me play things by ear.
At this point I am 33.3 weeks pregnant - which means Twosday is fully baked in 3.6 weeks -- and that's not too far off. So without further ado, I am going to try and spend the next couple of evenings catching all 3 readers we have up to speed on our lives.

Thanksgiving recap
Dado and Beebles (my folks) came out for 5 days for Thanksgiving. We had a wonderful time and Miles has been calling for them since they left.
On Wednesday, I worked from home and we did a bunch of prep work. Dado and Miles became fast friends while Mom and I chopped onions and made persimmon pudding.
On Thursday, we walked in the morning and spent a wonderful time at the park. It seems like everyone was there while Turkeys cooked to give their kids a chance to stretch their legs. We got home, put Miles down for a nap, and put our turkey in. I did a meal out off Sunset magazine. While everything was good, we did overcook the turkey - but we couldn't have been the only ones!
On Friday, in a somewhat rainy day, we went to the Coi ponds at the Japanese tea garden in San Mateo. Afterward, the 5 of us went for Dim Sum (yummmm). In the afternoon, we headed over to Coyote Point Park, a small museum under the flight pattern of SFO near the San Mateo Bridge. It was a super busy day, but we avoided the rain and had a wonderful time.
On Saturday, we relived a bit of my parent's early parenthood and headed back to the Oakland Zoo. The last time they were there, I was a tot. It turns out to be the perfect place for little people Miles' age. He ran up and down the hills, saw all the animals, petted goats, and road the train. We left knowing that we will be back soon.
On Sunday, we went down to church in Menlo Park and then for brunch at my Aunt Patsy's. Miles was great through the music part of church (following each song with a "YAAAYYYYYY!"), but got a little restless with the sermon. He also thrived at lunch and has been on an eating binge ever since. Aunt Patsy gave him a Christmas sweater, but he was most thrilled by the wrapping paper that when empty, he wore as a hat (and looked a little like the Wendy's girl). All in all, it was a wonderful week. I got a nap most days, but was still a little tired going into the week of work - but then I am tired on any given day....
Some photos of the events!

T minus 10 weeks
Wow.
I can't believe I am already 30 weeks pregnant. The pregnancy is going along fine, but it is weird to look at the calendar, already in December, and start having to worry about transition plans for maternity leave. Not to mention...
Name for our little girl
CLothes for her
Diapers and supplies
"Updates" to Miles' room
Etc...
I am feeling totally unprepared. Part of me thinks I need to just get through the holidays when I will be able to start focusing, but another part of me tells me that plan doesn't leave much wiggle room....
